Which dog suits you?

There are as many as 300 different dog breeds; from pet dog, shepherd dog to hunting dog. Dog breeds are divided into 10 breed groups. Each breed has its own specific character and characteristics. The Cocker Spaniel is cheerful, the Golden Retriever is a great friend of children and the Border Colli is intelligent. Each dog is unique. We classify dog breeds into 5 sizes: extra small dogs, small dogs, medium dogs, large dogs and giant dogs. Which kind of breed and size fits best in your life?

Extra small dogs

An extra small dog (toy dog) may be silly, playful and even a bit mischievous – but, boy, they are always down for plenty of cuddles.

Small dogs

Fancy looking small dogs are more than happy to stick by your side all day. They are great for apartment inhabitants and seniors.

Medium-sized dogs

Medium sized dogs are so charming, they will definitely warm your heart. They have a merry personality and are always ready for a game.

Large dogs

The all-around good boys deserve basic training, regular walks and daily play time. Expect lots of laughs and kisses in equal measure.

Giant dogs

If you can accommodate such a large roomie, you absolutely should. They are the gentle giants in every sense. Loyal, patient, smart, so sweet.

With as many as more than 300 dog breeds on this globe, searching for a needle in a haystack may seem like a daunting task, but we can make the choice easier. The FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), the organisation that determines whether a dog breed is recognised and registered has divided all dog breeds into 10 different breed groups. A breed group is a group of animals bred for the same purpose. These are the 10 breed groups:

Shepherds and Cattle Drivers
Pinchers, Schnauzers, Molossers and Mountain dogs
Terriers
Dachshunds
Spitzes and Orioles
Running dogs and sweat dogs
Standing dogs
Retrievers, Spaniels and Waterdogs
Companion dogs
Sighthounds.

Within these breed groups, you can also divide by size; extra small, small, medium, large and giant dogs. Each breed is unique and has its own character and needs.
